Free Fast Downloads Server!

Eternal Order, has realized that an entire month of having fast downloads has not made an impact into their bandwidth allotment. With that stated we will be offering Free Fast Downloads to Servers. In order to take advantage of this offer, you must put the following lines in your server.cfg file.

sv_downloadurl "http://theoverkill.brinkster.net/eoserver/FortressForever/"
sv_allowdownload 1

Everyone has my consent to use. Please play the 6 degrees game and let everyone know. I joined 3 servers yesterday consecutively with no fast downloads. Tell people about this offer, so we can get all servers up and running with fast downloads.

you just need the url.
Until they give it to you you should comment that line out.


Ex:

//sv_downloadurl

then when you get the url like this

sv_downloadurl "http://www.#####.com/####/"
sv_allowdownload 1

With it just like this

sv_downloadurl

it's telling the server to download from nothing. And unless steam fixed it that fucks you cause it won't even trickle DL from the server.

Thanks for that, it's things like this that will help FF grow, though I'm startled there aren't thousands more players already.

Do you have a list of custom maps on your server, and download urls so I can add them serverside here? :)

I think you can get just about any map you want there. With the exception if nukem has released another version of his murderball map that I haven't seen yet.

I know this thread is way old but how would the server know which map to dl to client? do i create folders within main link supplied in server.cfg?

like say link was

www.dfsdfsdf.com/...........

---folder--------ff_plasma_beta1
--------ff_plasma_beta1.bsp
--------ff_plasma_beta1.lua
---folder--------ff_protein
--------ff_protein
---folder--------ff_dm

ETC ETC ETC

or just put all files in the (www.dfsdfsdf.com) directory together as 1?

It should have the same structure as your game/server files.

Ex:

http://www.dfsdfsdf.com/FortressForever/maps

http://www.dfsdfsdf.com/FortressForever/materials

You need to put any custom maps on your Fast DL in the same directory that they are in on your server. A few custom maps out there come with custom textures so it's best to DL the map.zip so your sure to keep the structure and all textures that the map needs. Also it would be better to convert to .bz2 format.

I use 7zip to convert maps to .bz2 format. Easier to upload and faster to download off server.
